Active Parenting Class

Please join us in January for the Active Parenting Series!  Parenting is one of the most important and challenging tasks we will ever have.  Many of us search for ways to help our children learn and grow, but are simply too busy just trying to make it through the day.  Join us for supper at no cost, share your children with our team of high school volunteer babysitters, and spend some time with other parents as we learn a few new tips and practices that might make parenting even more enjoyable!

Professional Staff - Professional Learners

Elementary teachers have been deeply exploring the research of Charlotte Danielson and the Framework for Teaching.  The framework provides a clear vision of excellence in instruction that continues to drive our professional development work in the district.  At the district, building, and teacher team levels, a much better understanding of the clear, aligned, and rigorous learning outcomes is growing and helping teachers provided an even better education for our students. The image below is a synthesis of the "big ideas" of Component 1C: Setting Instructional Outcomes.

Cashton Elementary Welcomes Katie Mcky

Thanks to the support of the Cashton PTO and the work of Mrs. Lee, students were treated to a day with children's book author, Katie McKy.  After a dramatic performance of her book, Pumpkin Town, students participated in a writing camp to improve their own skills.  This is Katie's second visit to Cashton, both of which were outstanding opportunities for children to further foster a love of literacy and to better understand the writing process.  We are proud that she spent her day with us!

Katie taught for 23 years and used storytelling in every subject.  Katie combines storytelling and writing workshops for students when she visits schools. Drawing on her experience consulting for various Boston schools out of Harvard, she also does writing workshops for teachers and delivers in-service training sessions on creativity for teachers. FFA Halloween Safety Presentations

Cashton students were happy to welcome members of the Cashton FFA for a presentation on Halloween  and Trick-or-Treating safety.  Students were reminded to stay with an adult, dress for the weather, wear costumes that allow for visibility, and to have their candy checked by their parents before they eat it.  We appreciate the efforts our FFA takes annually to help our students enjoy the holiday safely!

Supporting Cancer Research

Cashton Elementary Students Support Cancer Research

American Cancer Society Fundraiser

Once each month, students in the Cashton School District are invited to support a charitable cause through a themed dress up day.  On October 18, Cashton students wore purple, hats, or both and contributed a dollar or more the the American Cancer Society.  For a few minutes during the lunch and recess period, the Elementary students gathered in the main for a quick photo. We were proud to raise $230 to support a cause that seeks to create a cancer free future.  Thank you to our Cashton families for your support.
